Well I finally got my grubby little mitts on the canon 6d. It has been a while coming but felt this was the sensible option for go for budget wise for what I need from a camera. Youtube review here
In short the sensor in this camera delivers beautiful images. The colour rendition is superb! Images are nice and contrasty straight out of the camera and the transition from highlights to shadow is something else! The one aspect of the the 6d I am especially blown away by is the low level of noise – honestly it is incredible to say the least. This may not be news to photographers who are used to shooting full frame, but to people looking to upgrade and who have been shooting predominantly cropped frame sensors prior to this, it truly is a stunning aspect of the sensor to behold with your very own eyes!

Not had the camera too long but enough time to have a play around with it. I am especially enjoying the video capability of the 6d. Again sorry to hark on about the noise performance but it really is a stand out feature for me. Shooting video in poorly lit environments is a breeze. First impressions of the handling are very good I must say, although the camera does not come without fault. These gripes are all subjective and I’m sure will not be a problem for all. For me the button layout really is poor. I always found it easier to review and delete images with a finger on the trash can and another on the set button for speedy deletion. Never the less I am sure I will adapt to the button layout and stop complaining in a few weeks! The other big problem for me is the lack of a white balance button on the top of the camera. This really is very frustrating as my old canon and previous models to that all had this handily placed button.
Only post work done on this was a tweek to the exposure!
Whining aside the 6d seems to be correctly positioned in price behind the 5d mkiii, you really are getting a wonderful sensor for a lot less money if you can live with the more simple autofocus system (which has a more sensitive cross type center focusuing point than the 5d mkiii), as well the button layout issues as mentioned above.
