We’ve all heard the rumours. But now its official – the Canon 5DS and 5DSR are the latest announcements along with the 750D and 760D. They are due to be officially announced on Friday 6th February.
But thanks to photorumors we now have the price, and no they haven’t made the 5D series any cheaper.
- Canon EOS 5DS: $3699, €3,499 (around £2600)
- Canon EOS 5DS R (no low-pass filter): $3899, €3,699 (around £2800)
The 5DS and 5DS R have upset a few people already with its relatively low highest native ISO level of 6400. Canon have kept the ISO lower to preserve maximum imagine quality and colour accuracy. We have spoken to several studio and commercial photographers who say this doesn’t concern them as they rarely work at ISO levels so high. Enthusiasts and reviewers however who like to play top trumps will more than likely rip Canon a new one here we feel!
Some exciting features just announced are the crop modes which are visible through the viewfinder. These are 1.6x, 1.3x and 1:1. The 1.6x crop mode gives you an impressive 19mp image and basically gives you the best of both worlds of crop and full frame cameras.
The 5DS and 5DS R are set to be on sale by early June 2015.
